Blahhh....

I officially don't like rainy days.  It has been crappy, cold and rainy since I got up this morning at 6 am, ad it looks like it's not gonna be any better tomorrow.

I have done nothing but veg at home today.  I woke up at 5:30 am, not of my own accord... Carlos Sebastian decided that 5am is the perfect time to get up to feed.  So off to the living I dragged my tired butt to sit in my rocking chair and hopefully be able to get another hour or two of sleep after he had eaten.  Oh not today.... every time he fell asleep and I tried to put him back to bed he would wake up. So no sleep for me today!  BUT at around 7 am I was able to rock Carlos to sleep again and lay him down... and he actually stayed asleep!!! So I got 3 hours in while he slept, yea me!!!

At 10:30am Isabel reminded me that she had a soccer game today... ummmm Isabel its raining out I seriously doubt you have a game. So she called and oh yes, there is soccer in the rain for the travel team.  Yup, Isabel's on the travel team this year, so up I got and fed my children and off to soccer I went.  The game started at 11:30am, and I showed up nice and early at.... 11:35am!!!  I so fail, AGAIN!!! oh well...

I wanted to post a pic of her playing or at least in her soccer uniform, which is tres fashionable this year... but again, I dropped her off at the field and forgot all about it.   Fail again!!!

Right now, I'm waiting on my Papa John's pizza, watching Underworld, and knitting another sweater for Carlos Sebastian.  (oh, maybe I can post some pics of that... )

I do have some news, I started my Wiltons Cake Decorating Class level 1 at Michaels this past monday.  So tomorrow I have to bake a cake and ice it, with yummy buttercream frosting, to take to class on monday to learn how to use my icing bags and tips to decorate it.  Its going to be a red (blue) velvet cake with white buttercream frosting, with maple leaves and acorns.  I'm sooo posting pics of the cake on monday night.  Woo hoo I so look forward to mondays now!!!

I had another post in mind, but by the time I logged on and started typing I blanked on what I wanted to post about!  So, my apologies, but this is what you get for today!

First Day of School

August 31, 2009

Today was Isabel's first day of school.  I still find it impossible to beleive that my little girl is in the 5th grade this year!  In less than two years she will be in middle school... OMG this child does nothing but make me feel old lately!

Needless to say she was super excited to go and see who is in her class, socialize with the friends she didn't see all summer, and of course... show off her new school clothes.  Come on, what girl doesn't love the first day of school!

Cute, right?!  She is very fashion savvy this one... a little on the casual side but hey... she matches and she's comfortable!  Oh, and don't you just LOVE the new hair cut!  I think the short bob is so cute on her, and yet it doesn't make her look like a baby anymore... *sigh*

I would like to say that I have pictures of her getting on the bus, but I got the MOM, I can't have you go to the bus with me!  Ok... so alas, I think I will no longer have the bus pics for my baby girl.

I'd love to say she had a spectacular day and came home happy and bubbly... but this is Isabel we are talking about.  She came home all pissy, apparently there is a boy on the bus that annoys the crap out of her and she of course must take it out on us.  So, after her getting yelled at for her bitchy grumpy and her storming off to her room because she's not being grumpy.... about an hour later I found out she had a really good day.  Dear Lord, if this is only going to get worse as she gets older and closer to PMSing.... save me now.

September 2, 2009

Today was Tyler's first day of KINDERGARTEN!  I can't believe he's off to school, I feel like he just started talking in complete sentences that make sense, never mind he's old enough to go to school.  Again, I feel OLD.

Well, Tyler has been awaiting this day for the last two years.  Let me tell you he has had the fist day planned for ages.  How he's going to ride the bus, how he's going to have a ton of new friends, how he's going to eat lunch and play on the playground all day.

So last night he picked out his clothes and made sure I had his back pack all ready so he wouldn't forget anything.  I got up at 6:30 am to make sure Isabel showered and was getting ready, and that Tyler would be able to be up in time to take a shower as well.  Isabel was already dressed and ready to go at that hour, and Tyler was jumping out of bed and on his way to the bathroom to jump in the shower.   (I love the fact that they are able to do this on their own, yet somehow it makes me sad)

The bus picks up at 7:30am, one bus for K and 1st graders and a second bus for the "older" kids ie. 2-6th graders.  So again, Isabel headed out by herself and I just about had to tie Tyler to the couch to wait until 7:25am to go outside.  He was ready to go outside at 7:10 am!

Isn't he handsome!!!
Here is Tyler showing off his apple, that gives name, address and bus route info.
I love this picture. This is infront of our building as we waited for the bus.  Which did not show up until 8:05am!!!  My poor baby was wondering if the bus had forgotten them or maybe he had missed it.
Have you ever seen a bigger smile on my little man?!   Finally the bus came and I barely got a kiss as he   rushed to the sidewalk to get on the bus.  And off went my little man to his first day of kindergarten.
When he got home he was EXHAUSTED!!!  But he did manage to tell me that he loved school.  When asked what he did in school today, his response was.... "Oh, i played, ate lunch, went outside for recess, played with Jayla, rested, and had my snack."   Apparently, all my son does is eat, play and rest!
The next morning on our way to the bus stop, Tyler says to me, "Mom you need to talk to my teacher."  Oh, why what's wrong baby???  "My teacher says I have to rest and I  dn't want to... I have to much to do!"   Hee, hee, heee.... ok baby, but I really think you should try to rest if you can.
I can already tell that this  will be an interesting year.
Gotta love the new school year!!!

Birthdays and nostalgia

So, for the sake of playing catch up I am starting at last monday August 24th.

Monday August 24, 2009... my baby girl turned... GULP.... (wiping away a tear) the big double digit!! TEN!!! 1o!!!! DIEZ!!!!

Yes my little girl is ten years old. I can't believe its been 10 years since I had her... which is where the tears come... I'm getting old! ;0)

Ideally I would have one of the hundreds of baby pictures of my little princess to post here.. but alas, since that is pre-digital camera owning days... and I have yet to scan those pics. Does it really surprise you at all??? I'm such a slacker! So the best I can give you right now is a pic of my three year old princess....

August 2009

I can't believe she's not this tiny anymore! It really does seem like just yesterday (ok maybe a week ago) I was coming home from the hospital with my little girl... completely overwhelmed, but totally in love with the beautiful little girl God blessed me with.
Happy Birthday Isabel... I love you more than you will ever know and I hope that you continue to grow into that beautiful young lady that will acheive all her goals and bring happiness to all who know her.

Oh... and Bella... NO you are not getting a cell phone for your birthday!!! ;o)

GRRRRR I hate technology!!!!

I bet you thought I had stopped blogging all together didn't you! Silly goose... nope, not at all. I actually had a great couple of posts I was going to blog last week. I had all my pictures lined up and uploaded... and NO INTERNET CONNECTION! WTF!!!

I have wifi on my laptop and have not paid for internet service in a year... WELL no longer. "Stealing" internet service is a thing of the past... I can no longer get a connection. Apparently either the person that had an open internet line has moved or is no longer the kind neighbor that supplies me with endless hours of free internet access.

So I had to bite the bullet and order internet service with Comcast... and ugh... PAY for my internet service.

So... my wonderfully eloquent posts will have to wait until tomorrow. Right now I have like 1000 emails to go through... grrrrr I hate technology.

Carlos Sebastian Castano

So for obvious reasons I have not been online until today. I completely forgot how little sleep I would be getting with a newborn! This past week has been one continuous day... although last night he slept for 3 hours without waking up!! WOO HOO! Its amazing how 3 continuous hours of sleep can rejuvinate a mother.
This is my last belly pic, taken the day before Carlos was born....

I will do a quick recap of last wednesday... only because I know you are dying to hear all about it!
After my appointment with the midwife on wednesday morning, she confirmed that indeed my water had broken and today was the day.... we would be having a baby! I was given to the choice of going straight to the hospital or laboring at home. Anyone that has had a baby will agree that laboring at home is much more calming than in a hospital, especially if your contractions are far apart. So I came home and woke up Carlos to inform him that today he would be a daddy... (yes, I had NOT made him aware of the fact that my water had broken nor that I had been having contractions all morning)

Since anyone that knows me, knows that I am an unfailing procrastonist, off to Walmart we went to pick up diapers, wipes, and other necessaties that I had been putting off buying because I still had two more weeks to go. No, I will never change... sorry!
Around 3 pm I went up to the hospital as my contractions were coming every 5-8 minutes, yet still very irregular, due to the walking around WallyWorld. So I went up, got hooked up to the monitors and as soon as I laid down, my contractions slowed down again. So as I walked and laid down, sat on the ball, walked some more.. and nothing happened, my midwife suggested trying pitocin to make the contractions regular and more effective.

Since I wanted to go natural I labored until 6pm at which time I told my midwife that I would try the pitocin and see what would happen. So she suggested to try just a "sniff" of pitocin to proceed with my birthing plan of going natural, and no lie... as soon as they put the IV needle in my arm, my contractions started coming every 2 minutes and as strong as all hell!

Needless to say, it worked... I was ready to deliver and gave the midwife just enough time to get her gown on, when two pushes later... we welcomed Carlos Sebastian Castano to our family!

He was born at 7:17 pm weighing 6 lbs 3.3 ozs, measuring 19" long.

Oh, and with a FULL head of hair! No lie... just look.....

The kids are besides themselves, my sister brought them up to the hospital right after the delivery and they just gushed over their new baby brother. Tyler said to us... and I quote "Mom, he is sooo tiny, just like a little meatloaf!" I don't know where he got that from but OK.

Isabel was all about holding him and kissing his little head.... Needless to say we love him.

By the time I was transferred to my room, the cafeteria was closed and there was nothing really to eat. So my loving husband suggested hamburgers from LongHorns... woa baby... nothing better for a woman that just gave birth and hadn't eaten since lunch the day before!

AND that pretty much covers Wednesday.... we love him, and we're keeping him! Its unanimous. So, I have a ton of pictures that we have taken since wednesday... keep checking in and I promise to keep posting.
